Phoenix Duckshit Oolong 鴨屎烏龍

So much flavor! Each steep tastes different. Doesn’t get bitter. Rich and complex without being overbearing as it cools. Wow

I loved this tea! The name intrigued me in and the flavor profile has completely sold me.

This oolong covers a lot of flavor profiles - from the sweet, floral high notes in its scent to its vegetal, grassy foundation, it's an incredibly relaxing tea! While I'd call Annie's Phoenix Honey Orchid Oolong (Mi Lan Xiang) more in-your-face and overt with its sweetness, it's hard to miss the sweet notes of the tea as you aerate it. Ultimately, the tea is far from flat - it has plenty of flavors to consider as well as a long-lasting finish that will leave you wanting another sip once it's faded away.

In my steeps, I taste virtually no bitterness despite its full, classically umami base. I'd absolutely recommend this tea to anyone who enjoys mildly-oxidized oolongs, as I'd consider this to be the epitome of a quality oolong with both floral and mildly nutty, roasted notes.

On top of this, I love that teas of this kind can be steeped near-boiling - the soothing warmth as you drink a delicious oolong just adds to the experience, if you ask me!

I tried this tea in the form of a mini cake, and it was surprisingly good.
I was expecting something closer to the Mi Lan, but this is greener so it was a really interesting experience that I will definitely try again.
