Type: shai qing mao cha / green tea
Origin: Jingmai, Yunnan
Yunnan Tea Research Institute in 1985 discovered a tea bush producing purple buds. After years of research and cultivation, this Purple Beauty varietal remains one of the less well-known teas from the region.
A unique mao cha made from the ‘purple beauty’ varietal in Jingmai region of Yunnan. This brew a very delicate, mellow, tangy, sweet, and clear greyish-purple tea liquor, with a touch of drying bitter aftertaste. With consecutive steeping, the leaves gradually turns reveal its dark purple green leaves. Suitable for those sensitive to strong taste but seeking a strong cha qi. A lovely choice for early mornings as you gently wake up your palette. It’s not your average cup of green tea, so sit with it and allow the stimulating cha qi to overtake.
Brewing Suggestion:
5g/100ml, experiment with 176F/80C water or as you would with a sheng pu’er, near boiling
