Known in the West as "Lapsang Souchong", a transliteration from the Hokkien dialect where this tea is from, Zheng Shan Xiao Zhong is credited as the world’s oldest hong cha, red tea. We fell in love with this mellow Souchong among the mostly heavily smoked red teas you commonly find when seeking Lapsang Souchong. Harvested from 50 year old tea bushes during early May. What you get is a clean and rich tea liquor with notes of dried logan and a hint of toasted nuttiness.
